Windows Desktop Search (WDS) 3.01, which works on both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, increases business productivity by enabling users to instantly find and retrieve e-mail messages and attachments, business documents, media files, and many other file types located on PCs and across Company networks. Users can simply type a search term and results quickly appear in an Overlay-style menu—even information within e-mail messages and their attachments. The always visible DeskBar offers quick and Easy Search access to indexed content on their PC or the network. From there, or via the Start menu, you can launch the full Windows Search Explorer, which lets you fine-tune your search.
In the WDS Search Explorer, search results are displayed in a clear way that lets users quickly find the exact file or e-mail message they need, even when many results are returned. The built-in Preview Pane lets you quickly scan through the contents of any result without having to open it in its corresponding application. Furthermore, search results can be quickly refined and categorized using the intuitive buttons and menus. From there, you can use One Click to move, delete, copy, burn, attach, or drag and drop files as needed. This is possible because WDS returns the actual files from your PC or network share, rather than just listing results in an HTML interface.
